The Budgerigar (nicknamed budgie) is a small parrot. It belongs to the tribe of the wide-tailed parrots (Platycercini). Budgerigars are often called parakeets, especially in American English. The term Parakeet refers to many types of small parrots with long flat tails. The budgerigar is found in the drier parts of Australia. It has lived there for over 5 million years.[1] It is commonly kept as a pet.

small colorful parrot-like birds, native to Australia. They are loud, playful, lively and pleasant. Naturally they are Green with a yellow forhead covered in black stripes, but selectively bred they're common in yellow, baby blue, light blue, white, etc. I've had these birds my adolescent life, I no longer have any but i've had them for years, they're great !

The Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus), (parakeet, shell parakeet, budgerigah, budgie, or common pet parakeet in US English) is a small parrot and the only species in the Australian genus Melopsittacus. A small long-tailed predominantly green and yellow bird with black scalloped markings on the wings and shoulders in the wild, the Budgerigar has been bred extensively with a profusion of colour forms resulting. Thus, aviary birds may be blue and white, all yellow, all white, or various other combinations thereof. Some have even been bred with small crests. In the wild, it is a predominantly seed-eating species. The budgerigar is found throughout the drier parts of Australia and has survived for the last five million years in the harsh inland conditions of that continent.

The budgerigar is closely related to the lories . Although budgerigars are often, especially in American English, called Parakeets, this term refers to any of a number of small parrots with long flat tails.

Budgies are small parrots from Australia. The word budgie is short for budgerigar. Budgies are seven inches long from head to tail. They weigh between 25-50 grams. Wild budgies in Australia are green, but there are many mutations of budgies out there in a variety of colors (blue, yellow, white, violet, gray).

Here's a description:
They have a beak which is made of keratin.
Budgies have a cere, located above the beak, which can help sex the budgie.
Cheek patches are on the cheeks (in most budgies).
The ears are covered with feathers and are located by the eyes.
Eyes can be black or red (red is found in lutinos).
A budgie's foot has two toes pointing forward and two backwards.
The vent is like the budgie's bottom and is where the poop comes out.
Budgies have tail feathers of different colors depending on the mutation.
Budgies have a keel bone that runs down the center of the chest.
They have wings on the side of their bodies.
They have a rump which is just above the vent.

They are known as budgies and parakeets. They cost about $20 at petstores. They are practically just small parrets in the simplest terms. They enjoy seeds, fruit, and need "cuddle bones" to scratch their beeks on. They also lay very small white eggs. The males are blue or purple-ish right above their beeks and females are red or pink-ish. People also clip their wings to prevent them from flying if they have them as pets.

Oh! They are also VERY colorful! They usually come in yellow, green, blue, or a mix of all together!

Sorry if this was not the answer you were looknig for!
